Norman Voters Pass $42 Million Transportation Bond

On August 28th, voters in the City of Norman overwhelmingly approved a $42 million transportation bond in a special election; with approval of almost 62% (5,762 to 3,627), the bond includes the following projects:

  • Congestion mitigation efforts on Lindsey Street, 36th Avenue NW, 12th Avenue SE, 24th Avenue SE, Cedar Lane and Alameda Avenue, including widening Lindsey Street from three to five lanes
  • Widening 36th Avenue from Tecumseh Avenue to Indian Hills Road
  • Stormwater drainage efforts along McGee Avenue and elsewhere throughout Norman
  • The addition of in-street bike lanes

With the bond’s passage, construction is expected to begin next year and continue until 2018.
